Life in Bermuda

Bermuda makes a big deal of its public holidays:

  • Cup Match (Emancipation Day) – celebrates the ending of slavery in Bermuda
  • Bermuda Day (May 24th) – celebrates with a marathon in the morning, a parade in the afternoon and serves as the official start of the Bermuda Fitted Dinghy racing season
  • Good Friday – Bermudians fly kites and eat hot cross buns
  • Remembrance Day (November 11th) – is marked by a parade of Bermuda’s dwindling band of war veterans
  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day
